Day 18 - A song that puts you at peace.

This song puts me at peace. I adore Boards of Canada; it's rare that I like songs overflowing with electro-trippyness but they've made it to be so soothing. And it fits so well with the footage from Planet Earth. This video really, really took my breath away, with the great scenery, and the cute penguin feet waddling on snow, the polar bear's head popping out underneath a blanket of snow and the slow motion shot of the great white shark leaping from the water, with a seal in its jaws. Breathtaking. So from now on this song will remind me of nature.

The day was turning out to be rotten but weird how a compliment on my hair can surpass all the crap and make me feel happy as hell again.

I'm as superficial as hell!

I'm waiting to go shop in July because this season's shoes are horrible. Or maybe it's just me, who can't pull off sandals.

I feel so high now it's weird. It's definitely that time.

I'm watching The Myth, the 2010 series, and maybe try Scrubs/Big Bang Theory? I'm just glad that Leverage is coming out in June. =D

I am completely obsessed with A Fine Frenzy. I think Alison Sudol is a brilliant singer, songwriter and composer and she is so pretty! She may not be a drop dead gorgeous goddess but her red hair is gorgeous and she's got charm. Or maybe it's just my thing for red hair. I think red hair is gorgeous and people like Marcia Cross are divine.

A Fine Frenzy's Once Cell In The Sea is currently my favourite album. I love every song in it, which is quite rare.

On an unrelated note, LOCH continues to fascinate me even more. Here's why;
seriously, why are the huangs so damn cool? normally i hate people playing games but i am enthralled by the huangs now.Collapse )

It's mellow without being melancholic and uplifting without being too over the top. The lyric is perfect too.

we stood so tall we caught a plane
by the wing and held it safe
until we found it a place to land
we laid across the ocean wide,
bridged the gap in record time,
the people traveled across and
kissed our hands

all for love, we become
larger than lifesize, wondersome
great in the eyes of someone
larger than lifesize we become,
great in the eyes of someone

we smiled so bright the sun went down
rose above the maddening crowd
we lit the streets with the sweetest glow
we held the globe and made it turn
wandered through the universe
the men of science observed through telescopes

all for love, we become

larger than lifesize, wondersome
great in the eyes of someone
larger than lifesize we become,
great in the eyes of someone

larger than lifesize, we become
larger than lifesize we become,
great in the eyes of someone

I decided to redo this list because a) I'm not so into Crazy by Alanis Morisette anymore and b) there is this one song I listen to again and again, whether I'm happy, or sad, or angry, tired, peaceful, vulnerable, tough...and obviously qualifies better as my favourite song.

I'm in love with The Temper Trap and here's why;

I fell in love with this song so much that I started searching for more of their songs and found that they were the ones who sang Sweet Disposition, the widely popular hit that was in the 500 Days of Summer OST.

01 Jun 2010 - i miss cj

After a month of inactivity(two weeks of inactivity was due to the flu and the next two weeks of inactivity was due to complete laziness), I finally went jogging again.I was aiming for about 4KM since I've had a whole month of stasis. Plus the wedding two days ago was a haven full of amazingly delicious Malay food which is of course very fatty and very very good, and I gained half a kg just after the two days of celebrations, so I had to work it off somehow. I guess I made a mistake running at Limbang Park. One round was 0.6KM and there was a steep hill that I had to overcome at every round. So while Limbang Park is very pretty and very entertaining(groups of old people were doing taichi, complete with Chinese fans and shiny flimsy-looking swords), I didn't hit my goal. I only managed 3.6km, about 6 rounds, walked one more round and did some exercises at the exercise corner. Even so, it felt good. Amazing how torture feels good.

Today was also the first time(since school ended) that I'm running at dawn. I missed running at dawn. The sky is beautiful and it's cooling. It reminded me of the times I ran at school in early mornings with Joy, and after that bathing before assembly. I missed the encouragement some of the ODAC people gave us. They were running stalwarts since they had to run every morning in groups and Cheryl and her friends never fail to encourage me even if I was super slow. And I really miss Joy passing me and giving me the thumbs up. And strangely, I feel that even Mr Isaac Lim's presence, and his recordings of the number of rounds I ran, had given me some encouragement.

I really miss school now that all the memories are coming back to me! I miss having recess after PE with my friends. We would buy a few packets of fruits and ask the auntie to put in a plate full of ice and while a few bags of fruit seemed little, it was too much for us, so we left the canteen feeling bloated yet very healthy. I miss having PE with the class; soccer was especially fun. I wasn't very good at the other sports, like handball, because of my right wrist(an after-effect of an op to remove ganglion) but I was pretty decent at soccer, so I enjoyed it. I miss hanging out in class, eating instant noodles in secret (because sometimes we crave for salty things) and just chatting with my friends. I haven't seen them for ages; It's been pretty busy at my end because I'm tutoring too much, but I want to see them again, just for old times sake.

As I'm typing this, I'm sending out an sms to Renu, Joy and Van. Breakfast again please!

Here's the thing, I love all animals. I think they need to be treated properly. I stay away from shark fin soup like it's the plague. I don't eat turtle eggs and get ridiculed for my stand against it when my extended family went to Batam for holiday where there are abundant turtle eggs. I'm neither a cat nor dog person; I love both species equally. Although, big cats are my favourite kind of animals, because they're just so majestic. And the fact that domestic cats have evolved from that hugeness is amazing. Dogs are also amazing, because they've got connections to wolves. Plus, I think snakes are gorgeous, especially the black mamba, crocodiles even more so and frogs are cute, really, with their huge eyes. I think lizards are spectacular and I would like to own an iguana. My favourite animal is the cheetah.

So you have to understand why I never really understood people who hate all animals. But I do understand those who have had apparently traumatic experiences with them and thus started hating animals. For example, facing a cat who's just jumped onto the table right in front of their faces when they were young. I understand that better after that pulau ubin incident when I got chased down a slippery heel by two huge mutts-one black, one brown- protecting their owner's house. I fell, got minorly injured, and a day later, as I was walking in the neighbourhood, I turned round a corner, and there was this medium-sized dog all of a sudden right in front of me  nd I did a double take and almost stopped in my tracks. It took me a while to get over that, maybe it was easier for me because I've always loved dogs, so yeah, if you've got a traumatic experience with animals and dislike them because of that, fine by me.

But honestly, I don't get why people would hate all animals just because they think they're barbaric, or dirty, or disgusting. Drives me up the wall.
